~~ HAYDENGOLD GOLDEN RETRIEVERS ~~
We are a small select Kennel based in Whitwick, North West Leicestershire
We have been fortunate to have had access to some of the best lines from both the UK and Australia
We have bred 5 Australian champions (one of whom became a Grand Champion)
and titled 3 further Australian champions owned by us.
We breed only occasionally, aiming to breed Golden Retrievers that are true to type,
sound in body and still maintain the wonderful temperament that is so characteristic of this breed.
All our dogs are tested for hereditary diseases before we breed from them
A BRIEF HISTORY
Dogs and showing first became part of my life in 1980. I had always wanted a Great Dane and bought my first puppy from Elaine and David Parish who owned the very respected and successful Dorneywood Kennels in England. Jenny (Dorneywood Genevieve of Haydendane), was bought as a pet with the thought that I might show...So after attending my first Great Dane Club Show in early 1981 and winning my first rosette!!.....I was hooked! Jenny won at both Championship show and Open show levels, including a Best in Show and gained her KC stud book number. In her first litter she produced Abbey (Haydendane Athena) who gained her Junior Warrant, won a Great Dane Club Members Show BIS, 1 CC and 1 RCC. I bred Great Danes in England under the prefix HAYDENDANE and have Judged the breed at Open Show level. My breed lines were mainly Dorneywood, Danelagh's (USA), and Walkmyll.

In 1987 I made the big move to Australia...following which I spent a few years showing Great Danes from the well known Danelyne Kennels in Adelaide. Unfortunately, my life changed in the early 90's and I had to take some time away from the show scene....
In 1993 I decided it was time to start over, but not with Great Danes this time (although they will always hold a very special place in my heart).....I had always been drawn to the Gundog ring, and after attending a few shows..I was offered a young yellow Labrador to show, his name was Toby (Ch Graffoe Go Between), He was six months old when he came to live with me. Together we won many CC's, Class in Group and in Show awards. The highlight being BEST PUPPY in the Gundog Group at the ADELAIDE ROYAL SHOW in 1994... As a companion for Toby, "Sophie" (Ch Raymel Poetry in Motion) joined us in 1994, She became a wonderful companion, a dream to live with and her sole aim in life was to please..her temperament was so typical of this wonderful breed. Sadly, we lost Sophie in 2004 aged 12.5 years to cancer.....She was a very special dog.

In 2003 I purchased my first Golden "Eddie" (Ch Sambindor Sir Edward) from Sambindor Kennels in Adelaide as a companion for Sophie. He was a beautiful boy and we enjoyed many memorable wins together, the highlight was winning the RCC and Best Australian Bred in Show at the 2008 7th Golden Retriever National, with an entry of 350 Goldens it was quite a day!! ...In 2004 I decided I would like to continue my passion for breeding and had fallen in love with this wonderful breed, and so the HAYDENGOLD prefix was born...
I set about finding a foundation bitch for my Kennel and was very lucky to be introduced to Ann Smith of Goldfleece Kennels. Ann had imported three wonderful boys from the UK from the World famous Stanroph Kennels, and her Kennel was based on these lines...After a 12 month wait, my Beautiful Faith, Goldfleece Just Timeless (Sired by Ann's Import Ch Stanroph Shared Assets) came to Adelaide to share her life with us. She was not a lover of the show ring, but from her three litters she produced two Champions and one Grand Champion...I will be forever grateful to Ann for entrusting me with her lines. In 2006 we added Gracie, Champion Naragold Hill of Grace, who was bred by using frozen semen from UK CH Stanroph So It Had to Be and we thank Emma Clarke for allowing her to come to HAYDENGOLD...Gracie had two litters and produced 1 Champion and another who was over half way to his title. In 2008 Ella (Ch Chaleur Xtreme Makeover for Haydengold) joined us from the well known Chaleur Kennels. I had always admired her beautiful mother Grand Ch Chaleur Unforgetable and was so lucky to be able to have one of her offspring...Thank you Ruth Thompson for entrusting us with your lines. Ella's first litter was born in 2012, sired by our George and from this litter we have just
bred our 5th HAYDENGOLD Champion!!
In 2013 I returned to the UK along my 7 goldens and hope to continue my success and build on this strong foundation!.
